This 1.5 cubic foot birm filter will remove iron from your water! Our automatic backwashing Birm filters use the new advanced Autotrol 263 "Performa" valve with a timer-based 440i control. The 440i controls the backwash cycle assuring dependability and high efficiency. The media tank, manufactured by Structural, is poly lined, fiberglass reinforced and supplied in an off-white color. 1.5 cubic feet of high quality Birm media is included, along with a system by-pass valve.

Description
By-pass valve - This is a connection to your water supply that allows you to take your system out-of-service. Used when you are away for an extended time, or if service is required to the unit. Included!
Birm Media - Birm is a granular filter media manufactured by the Clack Corporation and a chemical free way to reduce iron and/or manganese in your water supply. Birm acts as a catalyst to enhance the reaction between dissolved oxygen and the iron in your water – oxidizing the iron to a insoluble (ferric) compound – and removing the accumulated iron from the filter bed during the automatic backwashing process. Birm is not consumed in the iron removal operation and therefore offers a tremendous economic advantage over many other iron removal methods. Other advantages of Birm include; long material life with relatively low attrition loss, a wide temperature performance range, and extremely high removal efficiency. When using Birm for iron removal, it is necessary that the water contain no oil or hydrogen sulfide, organic matter not to exceed 4-5 ppm, and the dissolved oxygen content must be equal to at least 15% of the iron content with a pH of 6.8 or more. Chlorination greatly reduces Birm’s activity, as high concentrations of chlorine compounds may deplete the catalytic coating. Included!
High Flow Riser & Backwash - Our Birm filter systems use a high flow 1.05" distributor with a gravel underbed to ensure effective performance, and proper distribution of flow throughout the bed. The Autotrol control valve automatically delivers the high backwash rate required for proper cleaning and reclassification of the filter bed. Included!

Pipe Connections - Pipe connections are available in 3/4" or 1", in both copper and PVC - please select the connection that best suits your application. Free!
Insulating Tank Jacket - Tank jackets are available that add a designer look to your filter. Jackets also provide insulation, and prevent “sweating” in damp locations. Tank jackets must be used when installing a filter out-of-doors. Jackets are single piece in almond – not available for 2 cubic foot sized filter. Additional $30
